Tokyo Day 3: More Seibu Lions Baseball

The Seibu Dome is a semi-enclosed dome - the dome covers the entire top, but is open at the bottom... the only other stadium like this one is in Seattle at Safeco Field (Mariners)...

The game was a very interesting experience... Japanese are a very reserved group of people, but they come unglued at the ball games! everyone was screaming loud, singing, waving giant balloons, banging little plastic bats, and opening little umbrellas when the pitcher messes up (to tell him to go to the showers)... there were beer girls dressed in beer ad jerseys running around constantly with giant kegs strapped to their backs... There also were cheerleaders running around the stadium with a Lions mascot throughout the game... very different than what we are used to...

We had awesome seats - we paid for the tickets before heading to Japan through an agent, but had no idea where the tickets were going to be located... much to our surprise we were on the second row - first base line - right above the the visiting team's dugout... AWESOME view!

However, the only bad thing about being so close is the walk to and from your seats... unlike Minute Maid the seats are not broken up into sections - instead there about 50 rows of seats from the top down and no escalators... Sylvia kept letting me know that she missed Minute Maid... the trip to our seat wasn't bad, but coming up we both thought we were going to die...

We ended up going to an "American" snack stall before the game and got chicken nuggets, onion rings, and a hot dog with a french fry wrapped around it... the chicken was different, the onion rings good, and the hot dog was awesome... I ate it all by myself though because Syl thought it looked to strange!
