Destination Tokyo Beasts

September 12, 2009 – the one year anniversary of Hurricane Ike and Jose Valverde Bobblehead day – we attended an Astros ballgame. We arrived early to make sure we would be one of the first in line to receive our Valverde treat since we knew our electric #47 closer for the past two years would most likely no longer be with the team next year.

Once we got inside we went up to the Astros Club area to explore and look for something good to eat. We bought one of the best sandwiches and potato salads we had ever inhaled. After watching batting practice, we walked back over to the other end of the club and purchased our traditional helmet ice cream before finding our seats.

Shortly after the Astros third inning, a very nice Astros representative came to our seats to talk and have us fill out some forms. She told us that we were going to be put on the large screen at the end of the inning and then she congratulated because we had just won round-trip tickets to Tokyo, Japan compliments of Kazuo Matsui’s (2B) Dream Destination choice.

It was a very good game, even though it took several innings before we could concentrate.
