Ryogoku Kokugikan
The current Ryogoku Kokugikan or Sumo Hall opened in 1985 and hosts three of the six bashos each year. The original Kokugikan was built in 1909 and was used until 1945 when WWII shut it down... tournaments were held at the Meiji Shrine until 1954.
The front of the Kokugikan has really colorful banners with the sumo wrestlers names on them, a great sumo wall mural, and an area where sumo-goers can pose with the official characters of sumo.
After entering through the ticket entrance (stationed by retired sumo wrestlers - we did our sumo posing.
